The Eiffel Tower started to be built on January 26,1887 and was finished on March 31, 1889. It took about two years, two months, five days to be built. The Eiffel Tower is 300 meters tall (984 feet). When it was finished at the end of the 19th century, it was TWICE as high at the Washington Monument. At that time, it was the tallest structure in the world. You will be able to see the Eiffel Tower 59 kilometers (37 miles away). It is about 108 stories high. The Eiffel Tower is painted "Eiffel Tower Brown" (milk chocolate). To say Eiffel Tower in french it is la Tour Eiffel. The word tour means "Tower" in french. Almost 400 people fell or jumped off the Eiffel Tower (it can be hard to tell the difference). There are 347 steps to the first level, 674 steps to the second level, and 1710 steps to the top of the tower.


The Louvre is created in many phases. The Louvre is now the largest and most visit museums in the planet. The museum was originally a royal palace. It became a public museum at then end of the 1800’s. There is about 35,000+ items on display. It stretches out over three wings of the palace. A big part of the set is European paintings and sculptures. The rooms contain Egyptian, Roman, and Greek paintings and sculptures.


The North Dame Cathedral is one of Paris’ first Christian churches. The first
version was a “wonderful church”. It was built by Childebert, a king. North Dame
is the most popular monument in Paris and all of France. It even beats the Eiffel
Tower with over 13 million visitors a year. All religious events still take place at
the cathedral. During the construction period, many architects, somebody that
builds things, worked on the cathedral. Between 1210 and 1220, an architect
oversaw the construction of the level with a rose window. It also has great halls
beneath the towers.


The Arc de Triomphe is one of Paris’ most famous monuments. Did you know that the Arc de Triomphe is the memorial for soldiers who died during World War 1? The Arc de Triomphe has a large arch with two thick towers. It is 49 meters high, 45 meters wide, and 22 meters deep. The passageway is 98 feet high and 49 feet wide. Over 600,000 people visit the famous monument a year. It started being built in 1806, it was completed between the years 1833-1836. It took 27-30 years to make. The sturcture consists of a simple arch with a vaulted passageway.
